A brand refresh drives net sales and renewed cultural relevance.

After 55 years of acting as more of a behind-the-scenes player, Gap Inc. was ready to step into the spotlight alongside its portfolio of consumer brands (Gap, Old Navy, Athleta, Banana Republic). Their new leadership looked to Invisible Dynamics to bring everything to life.

In partnership with the client and agency team, I developed the verbal identity, including a vivid brand personality, robust messaging, and detailed voice-and-tone guidelines. Combined with the elevated new visual identity, Gap Inc. no longer felt like a corporate steward, but an arbiter of taste.

The updated brand identity went live in 2024, in concert with a portfolio-wide push to drive commercial and cultural relevance across all four brands. By 2025, net sales were up 3% across the portfolio, the gross margin of 42.4% well-exceeded earlier forecasts, and internal teams reported more cohesion and clarity.
